Clarkson Music Theatre February 2021 Newsletter
Greetings to the friends and Members of Clarkson Music Theatre. We hope you are snug and safe in this crazy COVID world of today.
We come with not unexpected updates about scheduled events, a plea for a volunteer, as well as a cool initiative at the end of this newsletter.
2021 Productions
The CMT Board reluctantly announces the cancellation of the Spring concert which we had hoped to present at Eden United this May 2021. Stay tuned for updates on our Fall Production. In these difficult times, CMT is committed not just to fiscal responsibility, but to maintain the safety and well-being of our members and our audience. We hope that life (and music) will return for us all as soon as possible. Our community of music theatre will survive!
The CMT Gala 75 Postponed
The Board regretfully announces the third postponement of “CMT’s 75th Anniversary Gala”. Rather than cancelling, we have re-booked our venue (Noble Hall Oakville) for June 18, 2022. Our entire CMT family gleefully awaits this huge celebration of CMT’s 75+ year achievements as well as the end of this Pandemic. Your ticket payments are safely deposited with us. Should event costs rise, your purchase will be honoured at no additional cost. Of course, full refunds will be issued upon request. To ask for your refund or if you have questions please contact [email protected] .
CMT Supports the Community
The CMT Board is pleased to announce our continued support of the Mississauga community. January donations were made to each these five local charities: Trillium Hospital, Ian Anderson House, Interim Place, Gerry Love Foundation and Compass Food Bank. Clarkson Music Theatre’s $1,000 Annual Performing Arts Scholarship will also go ahead as planned, applications to be submitted by May 15th. For details on how to apply, go to the link posted on our website.
Looking for a Treasurer
We wish to thank Dana Bryant Giguere, who steps down from the CMT Board in September 2021. Dana has been a wealth of knowledge and experience during her many years of faithful service. We will miss her, but she assures us she will continue to sing with us in concerts and the Christmas Cheer Choir, and perhaps help with props! CMT is looking for a volunteer to step into the role of Treasurer as of September 2021 – such role to be confirmed at Clarkson’s September 2021 AGM. Applicants should be well versed in “Quick Books”. A laptop is provided for this role. The Treasurer makes monthly entries for all CMT transactions, applies for the HST refund, and works with the appointed auditor to present the Audited Financial Statement at the AGM. Like all Board positions, this is a volunteer role. If interested and to learn more about this position, please contact Rita Ferguson [email protected] .
Introducing The Voices of Clarkson!
Clarkson Music Theatre is thrilled to announce that we will be premiering our "Voices of Clarkson" monthly concert series that will bring live music back to our loyal audience. Launching on Monday, March 8th and taking place every 2nd Monday of the month, Voices of Clarkson will take place on our Facebook page for our followers! The concerts will be free to watch with an option to donate to a featured charity each month if you so choose! The concerts will feature 3 members of Clarkson performing live from their homes and participating in interviews with the host to help you get to know them better!
Are YOU interested in being a part of The Voices of Clarkson? If so, we ask that you email [email protected] with the following information:
-Name
-Choice of 3-4 songs you'd like to sing (We will choose 2 that fit best with the show)
-Availability (Which concerts would you be able to. participate in from March-December?)
-Clarkson history (What is your history with CMT? Shows? Choir? Christmas Cheer Choir?)
Applications will be reviewed as they come in. If you are selected for a concert, you must be available for a 30 minute coaching session with our Music Director (Time TBD) and a rehearsal the week before (Date Flexible). We would love to hear from you!
We look forward to finally getting through these difficult times to sing, dance and play together once again. We can’t wait to exchange a real hug in real time. In the meantime, be well ; stay safe.
