- Clarkson Music Theatre invites you to our 2023 AGM, held virtually on Friday September 15th at 7:30. Open to members only. Agenda items will include a review of our past year including our financials, a look ahead to the future, recognition of service, and an opportunity to vote for candidates to the Board. At this time, we ask for nominations to the Board. Candidates must accept the nomination and have been a member in good standing for the 2022-2023 year. Board members serve for two years and attend meetings (about 7 mtgs. annually). Please note, the Board must screen the eligibility of nominations for the position of Music Consultant before the candidate’s name is forwarded to the slate of nominees. If you are interested in joining the Board but would like to learn more, please email your questions to our Director of Administration – Nick Forrow at [email protected]. Nominations to the board may be forwarded to Joanne Hines (secretary – [email protected] by the deadline: August 16th. We seek nominations for five positions. We are grateful that Kevin Roose will stand for re-election. We thank the following four CMT Board members who are stepping down. They have served our community most capably and we owe them a debt of gratitude for all they have done for CMT. Board members stepping down are: Joanne Hines (Secretary), John Galbraith (Marketing), Laura Carney (Social Media), Jenny Peace (Music Consultant).
- On or before September 1st, CMT members only will receive the Agenda for the AGM (along with its directors’ reports), a copy of the minutes of our last AGM, a zoom link for the AGM, a slate of nominees, an electronic proxy (to achieve quorum) and a ballot (to vote electronically in the election). The following are eligible to vote in the AGM: The cast of Cinderella, the Cast of the Christmas Cheer Choir, The Cast of Jukebox Journey, Lifetime members, other paid-up members.
- Congrats to the cast of “A Chorus Line”, listed on our Facebook page and website. We still need to cast “Richie” and “Mark Anthony”, and 2-3 male “cut dancers”. We welcome you to help behind the scenes as well! Contact [email protected] for more info on becoming a part of the “Line”.
- CMT is excited to announce that the Christmas Cheer Choir will serve our community once again. Produced by Seona Sydor, Music Direction by Ruth McDonald, Accompanist Catherine Ambrose. What a team! To learn more about how to get involved, or to confirm your place in this choir, please email Seona at [email protected]. Deadline August 20th (so we can prepare the music). Rehearsals start after Labour Day and are held on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
- CMT relies on our fundraising efforts at Rama Gaming Centre on Battleford. Money raised helps fund our Fall, Spring and Christmas productions. - We thought you’d like to know that CMT has fostered a child from Haiti for some years. His name is Chedner Akluche, age 14. We receive lovely letters from our recipient which express his gratitude and how these funds have changed his life. His success is our success, and we are proud to continue to help our community, especially those in need.
- Congratulations to Natasha Ross, graduate of Woodlands Secondary, and recipient of CMT's $1,000 Performing Arts Scholarship. We wish her well in her studies at York University.
- Join CMT for a fall get-together at the Irish Club, 4120 Ridgeway Drive, on Sept.8th at 7:30 p.m. Cash bar. Munchies and pizza provided. Open to members only please. Get to meet the cast of “A Chorus Line” and the current Christmas Cheer Choir, as well as many lifetime members. Help us honour the achievements of our newest lifetime members, recognize the service of retiring Board members, and acknowledge the incredible service of Ruth McDonald – who has served (and continues to serve) CMT in an active capacity for the past 50 years!!! - Meadowvale Theatre hosts an Open House to celebrate all that is new in 2023-2024. There will be food, give-aways, tours, music and activities for the family. See you at Meadowvale Theatre – 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. – on Sunday September 10th.
