CMT’s Annual General Meeting: September 24th, 2019
We invite you to attend the CMT AGM on September 24th at 7.30pm at Christ First Church 1700 Mazo Crescent. Agenda items include the President’s report, Financial Report, Show Updates, Fund Raising News, Music Theatre Mississauga Report, and the kick off of our 75th Anniversary year. If you are interested in putting your name forward to be on our Board of Directors, please contact [email protected].  We will also welcome our newest Lifetime members and present some special acknowledgements of service. So please join us for an informative night with your friends which celebrates a great season and a great community theatre group.
 
The Christmas Cheer Choir starts up September 4th
We are delighted that Ruth McDonald will be returning to music direct this year’s Christmas Cheer Choir, produced by Seona Sydor. Rehearsals start Sept.4th at 7:30 p.m. and will be held every Wednesday, in the Chapel upstairs. If you are interested in joining this vital aspect of CMT, please confirm by August 15th, to [email protected] so that we have sufficient materials at hand for first rehearsal. Your membership of $40 single / $50 family is due in September. Registration at 7:15 p.m.  If you are considering joining a music theatre group such as Clarkson, this is a great opportunity for you. Addams Family November 2019 at Meadowvale Theatre
If you are not a subscriber of our Encore Series (why on Earth would you not be?) then be sure to get your tickets for our fall show, The Addams Family at www.mtix.org.  The fabulous cast list is posted on our website and Facebook pages. We are sure this hilarious show will sell out so don’t be disappointed to get into the “spirit” and join our Addams Family in November at Meadowvale Theatre.
 
CMT Celebrates 75 years in 2020
Clarkson has a great year of celebration in store all throughout 2020. Don’t miss any portion of our epic year. Events include our spring concert -“This is Clarkson” -  at Eden United Church, May 8 and 9. Save the date for our big 75thGala, held on June 20, at Noble Hall (formerly Otello’s) (watch our for a separate email with all the details). We are delighted to present the premier Mississauga production of Cinderella, Broadway Version, at Meadowvale Theatre in November 2020.
 
Summer Social at the Irish Club, 4120 Ridgeway Drive, August 24th
Clarkson’s family and friends – open only to members past and present – are invited to our annual Summer Social – held on Saturday, August 24th at 7 p.m. at the Irish Club, 4120 Ridgeway Drive. Refreshments include: Munchies, BBQ’d sausages, salads, sweets. Cash Bar. Free to members in good standing, $10 if you are a returning past member, back for a visit. You can pay your membership on this night as well. If you are new to Clarkson, come out and meet your new group. If you are already part of the CMT family, we look forward to catching up over a pint. A firm rsvp is required by August 20th to [email protected] / 905-828-1933 in order to assure we have adequate supplies at hand… but there’s always lots of Guinness!

CMT is excited to get started on rehearsals this Monday, March 18. 50 voices will be raised under the direction of our music director Erica Astles. We look forward to being "At the Movies".  Our songs are rich and varied and just the thing to lift our spirits and get ready for spring.  

We are also excited to unveil the news for our  upcoming auditions for The Addams Family.  Join CMT at the Addams Family Information Night, on May 22nd at Christ Church.  Meet the Addams Family Team: Rob Gorican (director), Bob Riddell (choreographer), Jenny Peace (Music Director), Stage Manager (John Dalgleish), and Producers (Rita Ferguson, Christine McMahon and Susan Wray Toogood). They will share details on our shows story line, its major characters, the music, and how to audition. CMT celebrates our recent production of "My Fair Lady". If you are on Facebook, perhaps you've had a chance to view some of the stunning images that capture the sheer scope of the artistic vision of this great show.  Couple that with the incredible direction by Michael MacLennan and Jenny Peace, as well as the outstanding cast, orchestra and team.  We are so proud to have shared "My Fair Lady" with our Mississauga community! 

​Our Christmas Cheer Choir is on the road as we speak and well in the midst of their 11 show run. Bravo Bravo Bravo to this exceptional pool of talent, under the direction of Ruth McDonald, produced by Seona Sydor. You perform CMT's most significant work with the least fanfare. Your reward is in the eyes and hearts of those who you entertain in our senior centres. Well done.
 

THE CMT WINE AND CHEESE / DECEMBER 28TH:
Please join CMT to celebrate the achievements of 2018... ie: great productions, great friendships, great community outreach. This year, the CMT Christmas Wine and Cheese will be held on Friday December 28th at 7:30 p.m. at the Irish Club - 4120 Ridgeway Drive. Snacks provided, cash bar. This will be an opportunity for us all to truly gather as friends to share the stories of our season.  There is no charge. But we ask you to rsvp to [email protected]  so we can be adequately prepared for you joining the party. RSVP by December 26th please.
 
"AT THE MOVIES" - SIGN UP FOR ENSEMBLE AND/OR TO AUDITION JANUARY 12:
CMT's spring concert is "At the Movies" at. Eden United Church, May 10 and 11, 2019, under the direction of Erica Feggans Astles, accompanied by our own Robin Dalgleish. Rehearsals are held in the gym at Christ Church, 1700 Mazo Crescent.  Rehearsals are mostly Mondays and Wednesdays starting March 20th. Please find attached the rehearsal schedule for the concert. If you are a member in good standing and would like to join the ensemble, please email [email protected] to hold your spot in the ensemble and to allow us to prepare enough copies of the music. Your confirmation is required by Feb10th.  
If you wish to be considered for a featured role or if you or a friend are not CMT members and would like to join the ensemble, please contact [email protected] to book your 5 minute audition on January 12 between 10 am and 2 p.m. at Christ Church, room tbd.  Bring music double sided in a binder for Robin to play for you.  Your audition music should reflect our theme "at the movies". We ask you to avoid songs that also appear in musicals. (eg: Mamma Mia is both a musical and a movie, so it's inappropriate). Put your thinking cap on and wow the audition panel!  
 
INTERVIEWS FOR THE ARTISTIC TEAM FOR "THE ADDAMS FAMILY" JANUARY 19:
It's also time to assemble our next artistic team for our 2019 November production: "The Addams Family".  We are accepting applications for a director and a choreographer.  Interviews for the artistic team for "The Addams Family" will be held at Christ Church, 1700 Mazo Crescent, Room tbd, January 19 - booked from 11 am to 1 p.m.
Applicants for the artistic team of "The Addams Family" should submit the following to Christine McMahon / VP of Production at [email protected] with your request for an interview:

• Submit your CV (including experience and references)
• Include your vision for "The Addams Family"  (including scenic elements, casting, overal vision)
• indicate your expected remuneration requirements
• advise if you are Equity
• how do you envision the use of the Ancestors? fight sequence? size of cast?
• Budget concerns that might be an issue

Applications should be received by January 15th.

We’ll take you back to your first memory of the movies and return you to yesterday when you last sat in the cinema. We hope you like our special selections including: Somewhere Over the Rainbow, theme from James Bond, Lord of the Rings, and more.

Clarkson Music Theatre is looking for a tenor to fill the principal role of “Freddy” for our fall production of “My Fair Lady”. Rehearsal requirements: Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30pm / Saturdays from 10 am to 4 p.m. as scheduled (see below). Our 8 Show run opens November 16 and closes November 25 at Meadowvale Theatre. To apply for consideration, email [email protected]
At this time, Freddy’s schedule is August 25, Sept.1, Sept.5, Sept.24, Sept.26, Oct.1, Oct.20, all subsequent rehearsals Monday/Wednesday/Saturday from Oct.22 to Nov.9. Dark Week runs Nov. 10 to Nov.15.

 It is with great pleasure that Clarkson Music Theatre acknowledges our own Rita Ferguson, President, who will be the receipient of the Hazel McCallion Volunteer of the Year Award - presented at the Mississauga Convention Centre on Derry Road on May 10 at the Marty's.​

This year, Hazel McCallion will be presenting her Volunteer of the Year Award to Rita Ferguson, President of Clarkson Music Theatre. Rita joined Clarkson Music Theatre after emigrating from Ireland in 1988. She says joining community theatre and Clarkson Music Theatre saved her life.
 
For 20 years, Rita has produced Clarkson spring concerts in Eden United Church and the Living Arts Centre. These concerts included a variety of Tributes to Broadway.
 
Similarly for 20 season Rita has produced major musicals like “Hello Dolly!”, “The Merry Widow”, “Me and My Girl”, “The Pirates of Penzance”, “Cabaret”, “The Mikado”, “Blood Brothers”, “42nd Street”, “Wonderful Town”, “Sweeney Todd”, “Thoroughly Modern Millie”, “Hairspray”, “Mame”, “Legally Blonde”, “Young Frankenstein”, “All Shook Up”, “White Christmas” and this year “My Fair Lady”.  She has served on many theatre boards, including that of MTM and ACTCO.

Rita continues to lend her time, talent and energy to promoting theatre in the Mississauga Musical theatre community. We are very proud of her and grateful that she is rightfully being recognized with this award.

Congrats White Christmas!First, congratulations to the cast and team of White Christmas. We were so gratified to enjoy totally sold out shows from start to finish.  The audiences loved the music, the talent, the return to good old fashioned fun.  Well done!
“It’s a Grand Night for Singing” starts March 26Welcome to our 45 member cast of the Spring Concert. Rehearsals for “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” begin March 26 – running twice a week till showtime – May 11 @ 7:30 p.m. and May 12 @ 2 pm.  The concert, under the direction of Bob Hardinge, has its song selections in place and we can’t wait to start singing once again. The Encore Gala Apr. 28The Encore Series closes its special 25th Anniversary year with a very special Gala on April 28th. You should have been updated regularly on this event via separate emails. Clarkson Music Theatre bids goodbye to a great year - filled with a completely sold out "White Christmas" at Meadowvale Theatre, and the gift of music shared by our Christmas Cheer Choir to twelve senior centres in the Mississauga area.  We are so proud of the achievements, generosity and talent of our CMT members..

We can't wait to get started on our spring concert under the direction of Bob Hardinge, accompanied by Robin Dalgleish - "It's a Grand Night for Singing". There's still time to get involved.
